Retinal Degeneration as Part of a Syndrome

The eye is a complex part of the body and as a result there are also many different syndromes that sight loss may form a part of. Unfortunately we are not always able to produce detailed information for each of these syndromes, some of which are listed below.

  • Alström Syndrome
  • Bardet-Biedl Syndrome
  • Wolfram Syndrome
  • Joubert Syndrome
  • Mainzer –Saldino Syndrome
  • Stickler Syndrome

The Genetic and Rare Disorders Organisation (GRDO) provides a strong voice for voluntary groups representing people with or at risk of developing genetic or other rare disorders in order to achieve better support and services.

They can be contacted at Please see for more information or call Fighting Blindness on 01 6789 004 and we can put you in touch with the organisation.
