Visionaries – Autumn 2014

Image of Anna MoranWelcome From Anna Moran, External Affairs Manager

Welcome to the autumn 2014 issue of Visionaries. Summer often brings a few quieter months in the office, but we are pleased to have been busier than ever over the past few weeks!

In July, Fighting Blindness moved its office closer to the city centre. We are now located at 7 Ely Place, Dublin 2, just off Stephen’s Green. After a lot of box sorting, we are back into the full swing of things and look forward to welcoming you in if you’re passing by.

We have had a few staff changes over the summer too. We said a sad farewell to Lara McDonnell, after over two years as PA to the CEO, we wish her well in her new ventures. Stepping into the role we are delighted to welcome Siobhan Collins to the team. We are also glad to welcome Clodagh Ryan back following her maternity leave.

As the nights start to get a little darker, we are all conscious of our members living with sight loss, for whom the longer evenings can be a problem. It makes us more determined than ever to work hard to ensure that relevant and promising research is funded so that we can move another step closer to a cure. We are also here to support and encourage our members through the Insight Counselling Centre and we continue to advocate on your behalf to make sure that our community’s voice is heard in all matters relating to vision.

We love hearing from our members, so please do get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions.
