Team Fighting Blindness have been working hard, both training and fundraising, and will be heading off on the Paris2Nice Cycle at the end of September! We have 11 cyclists taking part this year; Maria Supple, Ronan Holahan, Tony Ward, Aisling Tohill, Audrey Jones, Aine Lennon, Helen McClelland, Peter Ryan, Fiona Royce, Kenneth Edmondson and Paul Mahon. So far the team have raised over €33,000 but they’re not finished yet! If you would like to support any of our cyclists you can do so here.
Spotlight on Paris2Nice Cyclist Áine Lennon
Twenty-three year old Áine Lennon from Ballymurphy, Co. Carlow will be taking part in the Paris2Nice Cycle as part of one of our three tandem cycling teams. In tandem cycling, a sighted rider (the pilot) sits at the front of the bike and communicates what is ahead to the person with sight loss in the back seat (the stoker). Áine will be a stoker on one of the teams and has been busy organising fundraising events in preparation for the cycle. These events included a football blitz, a truck run and two cabaret nights! Thank you so much to everyone who helped organise and supported these events in Carlow. The local community has been out in force over the last few months and we are extremely grateful. Best of luck in France, Áine!
