People affected by sight loss or interested in learning more about how to take better care of their eye health are invited to a free information and education event in The Strand Hotel, Limerick on Thursday, May 15, from 6pm to 7pm.
Dr Marie Hickey-Dwyer, Eye Surgeon at University Hospital Limerick, will discuss local eye services available to the community and common eye conditions affecting people in Ireland.
Dr Hickey-Dwyer will be joined by Eye Doctors Dr Alison Blake, Dr Patricia Quinlan and Dr Garry Treacy who will discuss: How to look after your eye health – The important steps for you and your family and the most common eye conditions affecting adults and children in Ireland, including:
- Age-related macular degeneration (AMD
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Paediatric eye conditions
The audience will have the opportunity to ask the eye doctors questions following each topic and a general eye health Q&A will conclude the session. The Retina International World Congress takes place in Paris from Friday, June 27 to Sunday, June 29, 2014. The conference presents an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in basic science and clinical trials for retinal degenerative diseases.
