The Irish College of Ophthalmologists (ICO) Annual Conference took place in Killarney from May 18 to 20. Fighting Blindness had a stand at the conference (pictured left with Caitriona Dunne and Dr Laura Brady) and also gave a talk to trainee doctors about our work and about delivering a difficult diagnosis. We were also well represented at the meeting by Fighting Blindness researchers and clinicians, who spoke about the importance of genetic diagnosis for rare eye diseases and presented some of the findings from Target 5000.
The ICO conference is an important opportunity for us to meet ophthalmologists and raise the profile of Fighting Blindness. We spoke to many attendees about the information and support services that we provide and the importance of referring people to Fighting Blindness to avail of these and receive help following a diagnosis. We are very grateful to the ICO for inviting us to attend the conference.
