On behalf of the fundraising team at Fighting Blindness can I take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year. We really appreciate everyone’s continued support in 2014 where we had some excellent fundraising events and campaigns. Highlights included our annual Sporting Gala Dinner held in February, over 50 women participating in the Flora Women’s Mini Marathon, 11 cyclists, including three visually impaired, who took on the Paris to Nice challenge in September and, most recently, our Glendalough Trail run in November with 350 participants. There were many other fantastic events organised by supporters around the country during the year and we are very grateful to everyone involved in all of these.
We also really appreciate those who support us by making regular donations through our Car Draw, our direct mail campaign or through regular monthly donations. everyone who organises events in their local communities around the country.
We are all very encouraged by recent advances in research and technology and, as evidenced by the patient engagement day at our recent Retina conference, people affected by sight loss are very engaged and eager to find out what is happening. In that regard it has never been more important to raise the funds needed to fund the ground-breaking research while we continue to support people affected by sight loss.
So please do continue to support Fighting Blindness in 2015 – we will keep in touch with you regularly and aside from our usual fundraising events and campaigns, we are always happy to hear from you with any ideas you might have.
