Dear Members and Friends,
This past year has seen much change in personnel at Fighting Blindness including myself starting as CEO. However it is so good to know that the legacy and ethos of Fighting Blindness is as strong and relevant as has been since its founding in 1983.
Our Retina Conference is just over and the content from it features strongly in this edition. The conference was very well received from both the science perspective and our public engagement day.
We remain most respectful of the trust placed in our team to be the collective voice to ensure the advancement of treatments and cures, together with equity of access to therapies. We will continue to advance research and maintain our identity as one of the foremost research charities in Europe.
Equally our focus on both our counselling work and our patient advocacy initiatives are reflected in this issue. As always when we reflect on the year that has passed it further strengthens our resolve to continue to be the agitators for service improvements and the innovators to ensure best quality of life outcomes for the people we are representing.
On behalf of all at Fighting Blindness I wish you, your family and friends every happiness and peace for the festive season.
Kevin Whelan, CEO
